The race only for the brave. Every year at the end of October, the Polar Circle Marathon is held in Greenland, the largest ice island in the world. It is a 42 kms marathon. It is one of the most exclusive races in the world since logistics in the area limits the number of participants to a total of 250. The terrain is mountainous until the end, with the steepest ascents being the climb that comes out of the ice sheet and the climb of approximately 75 meters high that is 5 km before the finish line. Marathoners often come across oxen, reindeer and other animals that inhabit the Arctic desert and due to the danger of falling into a crevasse, runners are strictly prohibited from leaving the route marked on the ice sheet. An international team of doctors and nurses is available before, during and after the marathon. The race takes place every year, at the end of October.
